Day 1

Today, we journey to the "Birthplace of America," Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Home to everything from the historic Liberty Bell and Independence Hall to the Rocky Statue, there is so much to explore. It's also a proud city of firsts: the nation's first hospital, zoo, library, stock exchange, piano and cheesesteak were launched here (amongst myriad other institutions & inventions). Our accommodations will be at the ideally located Embassy Suites, Philadelphia City Center. Tonight, we'll enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 2

This morning, history will come to life when we uncover an incredible collection of Revolutionary-era artifacts and exhibits at the city's brand-new Museum of the American Revolution. Our next stop, the Philadelphia Flower Show, is the country's "largest and longest running horticultural event" and will feature themed Flower Power displays throughout (a tie-in to the 50th anniversary of Woodstock!). The Show will also play host this year to an international floral design competition making for a day full of flora and fun! You'll marvel at novel garden exhibitions and astonishing floral arrangements, new plant varieties and a massive marketplace too - there will certainly be much to see and do during this premier award-winning showcase. This evening, enjoy free time to explore the city.

Day 3

We'll depart toward home after breakfast, stopping en route in Delaware at the stunning estate of Winterthur (once the childhood home of collector and horticulturist Henry Francis du Pont). Pronounced "winter tour", this sprawling property boasts a stunning 175-room house, 60-acre garden and thousands of decorative objects integral to the telling of the American story. Arrive home early in the evening with fond memories of our getaway.
