Today fly to the "Mile High City" of Denver, Colorado where accommodations for the next two nights are provided at the DoubleTree Hotel. A welcome dinner is included this evening.D
This morning we will pass Boulder enroute to Rocky National Park. Climbing to over 12,000 feet our park tour starts on Trail Ridge Road the highest continuously paved road highway in the United States and certainly one of the most scenic. Enjoy spectacular views and hopefully an abundance of wildlife as we progress from Estes State Park and marvel at majestic mountains and canyons. Later you are able to explore Denver at your own pace.B
Today our tour stops at one of the area's world-famous ski resort towns. Later follow Rim Rock Drive and discover Colorado National Monument and its amazing sheer red cliffs, steep canyons and monoliths. This morning day trip to Utah to explore Arches National Park and witness a spectacular array of stone arches and rock formations. Later visit Canyonlands National Park and enjoy the panoramic vistas of Island in the Sky as well as deeply eroded canyons interspersed with sheer sided mesas. Today journey to Silverton, a former silver mining town now a designated national landmark. Later board the famed Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and enjoy an amazing train ride through the breathtaking canyons in the remote wilderness of San Juan National Forest. Later arrive in Durango, a delightful town filled with historic buildings, trendy restaurants and the spirt of a bygone era. After breakfast enjoy a tour of Mesa Verde National Park, the land of the ancient Pueblo Indians and their well-preserved cliff dwellings. Our local guide takes us to the most popular archaeological sites and overlooks. Later, enjoy the downtown area of Durango.B
Today venture to Great Sand Dunes National Park and explore the largest sand dunes in North America. Rising up to 750 feet high against the Sangre de Cristo Mountains backdrop the dunes provide another worldly landscape that will be long remembered. Travel to nearby Canon City today to enjoy a thrilling train ride aboard the Royal Gorge Railroad. View soaring granite cliffs as well as dramatic views of the world's highest suspension bridge as you ride along the Arkansas River. Later visit the Garden of the Gods and marvel at the magnificent red rock formations that were sculpted more than 300 million years ago.
