Today we'll depart for Nashville where our home for the next two nights will be at the 4-star Gaylord Opryland Resort. This evening, we'll enjoy an included dinner at a local restaurant.D
This morning, enjoy a tour of Nashville with a singer/songwriter guide. Learn about Nashville's fabled music history as well as the struggles and successes of breaking into its music scene. Enjoy a panoramic tour that includes drive-by of Honky Tonk Row and the Bluebird Café as well as the Parthenon and the State Capitol. We'll then visit Music Row and tour Historic RCA Studio B where such musical titans as Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers, Roy Orbison and Dolly Parton recorded some of their most popular hits. Later, visit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. This entertaining facility brings the heritage of country music alive. View some of Country's greatest stars' costumes, musical instruments as well as entertaining film and audio clips. After an included dinner, take your reserved seat for a performance at the legendary Grand Ole Opry.B, D
Today we'll bid farewell to Nashville as we depart toward Memphis. Upon arrival, we'll take an included city tour to learn about its musical heritage, history and culture. You'll pass from the riverfront with its riverboats and barges through the downtown area, past the mansions in Victorian Village and Cotton Row. Learn about the city's incredible past, including its famous singers and musicians who have helped Memphis become known as the home of rock 'n roll, the blues and soul. We'll stay for two nights here at the Sheraton Hotel located downtown.B, D
Our day begins with a visit to Graceland, the palatial estate of Elvis Presley. See the largest collection of gold records in the world as well as Elvis' elaborate stage costumes and jewelry. You'll see his living & dining rooms, kitchen, TV room, the famous Jungle Room and more! The tour ends in the Meditation Garden where Elvis and his family are buried. The rest of your day is free to explore this exciting city on your own. You may want to see the famous "Duck March" at the Peabody Hotel or spend the evening enjoying the live music and excitement on Beale Street.B
Before departing Memphis, we'll tour Sun Studio - "The Birthplace of Rock 'n Roll". Stand in the same spot where Elvis first recorded and listen to the stories of the countless musicians who have passed through this storied property including B.B. King, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash. We'll then depart for New Orleans, stopping en-route for lunch on our own in Jackson, Mississippi. Our home for the next three nights will be the beautifully appointed Hotel Provincial located in the French Quarter.B, D
Enjoy a memorable brunch at The Court of Two Sisters this morning. Here, you'll pass through the charm gates (said to have been blessed by Queen Isabella of Spain herself) and then savor some authentic cuisine while listening to incredible jazz music. Next, we'll tour the city with a local guide and see the Lakefront area, St Charles Avenue and Jackson Square. Learn about the history of the French Quarter and stop at St. Louis #3 Cemetery. The rest of the day is free for exploration.CB
This morning we set out for Oak Alley Plantation. This nearly 200-year-old property was used to cultivate the highly lucrative sugarcane crop. We will have time to explore the "Big House" as well as other notable displays and areas such as the sobering slavery exhibit as well as the blacksmith shop. After some free time this afternoon, we'll meet to savor some delicious food at a local restaurant.CB, D
